Competition: Name sought for university sustainability center

A scientific center on the topic of "Sustainable Development and Transformations" is being established at the University of Kassel - it is unique in this form in Germany and is to have an international impact. Up to 17 new professorships will teach and conduct research on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, and new courses of study will be created. Now the university is looking for a name for the center. Anyone and everyone can participate.

For English version see here.

In order to be internationally understandable, the name should be an English name that conveys the core message "sustainable" or "sustainability". An abbreviation of the name should be concise and not cause any unwanted misunderstandings. Proposals can be submitted until July 16 at presse[at]uni-kassel[dot]de (please include full name and mailing address). All participants will receive products from the university anniversary collection as a thank-you gift.

The Senate approved the establishment of the center last June. The first professorships have already been advertised. The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations comprise 17 objectives that are to serve the securing of sustainable development on an ecological, social and economic level worldwide. At the University of Kassel, more than 120 departments are already involved with sustainability issues in various ways.
