A total of 29 students have registered for the robotics workshops in fall 2026.
For the second time, Department 16 at the University of Kassel offered a robotics workshop exclusively for girls. In addition, there were the mandatory DIY and Fischertechnik workshops for advanced and beginner students.
With such a large number of students interested in STEM, we naturally need more supplies. Thanks to a generous donation from the CDW Foundation, we were able to purchase additional motors, sensors, and consumables.

Waffles on a Stick
The Power Electronics Department, headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Friebe, served up some very delicious waffles on a stick at the University of Kassel’s annual celebration on the FB16 campus (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science). Yes, you read that right: on a stick!
They sourced the electrical power for the special waffle maker from a trailer packed with lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 20 kWh. With the waffle maker drawing 1 kW of power, they could have been serving waffles well into the night.
But the best part—at least from the RoboCup’s perspective—was that they donated the funds they raised to us. This means we’re now able to purchase two OpenMV cameras, which are urgently needed for our Maze teams.

Workshop for girls
For the first time, a robotics workshop for girls only is taking place at the university in Faculty 16 Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Wilhelmshöher Allee 71. Registration possible from 7th grade.
The workshop will take place on September 6, 7, 13 and 14, 2025.
