The online lecture survey

This semester, the lecture survey will take place online and live for the first time using software developed here.

A code will be handed out in every compulsory lecture, which you can use in your smartphone app or the web interface to take part in the survey immediately or later.

The following steps are necessary beforehand:

1. Installing the smartphone app (a, b) or memorizing the web link to the web interface (c):

2. Call up for the first time:
   1. Smartphone apps: You have to log in to ITS once with your student account
   2. Web app: You have to log in to ITS every time
   3. Your submissions are always anonymous!
3. From now on you can use the app or the web interface at any time.

Our department has developed a software system that can be used to conduct surveys online. The aim is to electronically collect feedback on how to improve courses and degree programmes. The software is suitable both for the lecture survey that takes place every semester and for short weekly surveys, for example. The lecture evaluation survey will be conducted online from the 2014/15 winter semester.

The prerequisite for participation is the use of a smartphone or tablet computer running Android or iOS. Alternatively, a web interface can be used (web browser).

All participating students can install the app on their mobile device or visit the corresponding website (see link below).

Please enter the code of your respective survey at the beginning. Here you can also view the statistics (including those of completed surveys) by entering the relevant code ("Statistics" button).

The app loads prepared surveys from our server. You can scan a QR code or enter a 6-digit code. The questions (possibly divided into groups on several pages) can now be answered. As soon as you submit your answers (button on the last page), your entry will be included in the survey and you will receive the current interim result for viewing (survey overview). You can update the interim result at any time. You cannot take part in the survey again.

The surveys (data set with questionnaire) are loaded from a server at the University of Kassel. The answers sent by the apps are uploaded back to this server and stored there. No personal data is collected or stored during these processes.

To organize the surveys (authorized participation, prevention of multiple participation), you must log in with your ITS account ("student account"). A hash value is generated from your registration, which is attached to your submissions. The hash value is stored separately from your submission so that your submission cannot be linked to you. The hash value can be used to ensure that multiple submissions cannot be made per survey.

To optimize the software, the app ID (iOS) or the device ID (Android) is stored as well as data on the operating system you are using (OS version) and the screen resolution. This data is used exclusively to analyze and improve our software and cannot be linked to you.

If you do not agree with these conditions, please do not install the apps or take part in surveys.
