Daniel Kopp's PhD Thesis on Defending Against DDoS Cyber Attacks Nominated for GI Dissertation Award 2024

The University of Kassel has selected Daniel’s PhD thesis as the best of 2024 and nominated him for the prestigious GI Dissertation Award by the Gesellschaft für Informatik! Each university may nominate only one candidate – some choose not to nominate anyone at all.

As part of the award process, all nominees present their work at a colloquium held at Schloss Dagstuhl:
“In the colloquium for the GI Dissertation Award 2024, the nominees selected by their universities present the results of their PhD theses, which were completed in the field of computer science in 2024.”

Daniel’s dissertation focused on DDoS cyber attacks and proposed innovative, machine learning-based defense mechanisms that scale to Tbit/s traffic rates and can be deployed directly in the core of the Internet – at IXPs.
