University of Kassel successful at German university championships in canoe polo

The University of Kassel team put in a strong performance at this year's German University Championships (DHM) in canoe polo. The event took place on May 17 and 18 in the river pool of the Warnow Rostock Water Sports Association and was organized by the General German University Sports Association.

In addition to the Kassel team, university sports teams from Rostock, Cologne, Aachen, and Hanover also competed. The team arrived on May 16 and, after a refreshing dip in the 10-degree Baltic Sea, kicked off the tournament weekend with high spirits.
With an opening victory against Rostock, the students from Kassel made an immediate statement. The win was celebrated in style that evening during a guided tour of Rostock’s historic old town. After several more exciting matches and a decisive victory in the final game, the Kassel team secured a respectable seventh place in the overall standings.
The team from the German Sport University Cologne was crowned the new 2025 German Collegiate Champion, successfully defending its title from the previous year.
The canoeists at the University of Kassel train every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from April through October at the Kanu-Sport-Kassel e.V. (KSK) facility in Finkenherd. For those interested who have no paddling experience, a beginner’s course is offered on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Click here for the AHS beginner’s course.
