Semester opening celebrated: Reunion and getting to know each other with lemonade and ceviche

Last Wednesday, May 4, 2022, the Institute of Romance Studies invited students and employees to the first opening of the semester so that they could finally get back into contact with each other. The organizers Annika Rink and Valentina Roether first welcomed the more than 30 participants and, together with the institute's lecturers, presented a wide range of projects and products from the past semester, including courses on internet linguistics, literary learning, the women's movement of the 1960s as well as an excursion to Berlin and the KastELE database.

Events were then announced for the current summer semester, which will take the Institute of Romance Studies to Wilhelmshöhe Palace, the documenta and Ecuador, among other places. Following on from this, the students were able to take advantage of various advisory services, such as those offered by the Student Advisory Service, the Student Council and the International Office. Stimulating discussions over delicacies from Spanish- and French-speaking countries also generated new ideas for shaping life at the institute. Further ideas can also be sent to romanistik[at]uni-kassel[dot]de at a later date. One thing is certain: there will be another convivial Romance Studies semester opener in the winter semester. With this in mind, we wish all members of the institute a stimulating summer semester with inspiring encounters!
