"Use of language in conspiracy theories" | School workshop Martin Luther King School Ratingen

On November 15, 2024, Sören Stumpf led a workshop for high school students at the Martin Luther King Comprehensive School in Ratingen. In this workshop, the participants learned what conspiracy theories are and how they can be examined linguistically. They were first given a basic understanding of the definition and characteristics of conspiracy theories. The students then deepened their knowledge by exploring conceptual metaphors. In practical exercises, they analyzed texts from the corpus of the DFG project in order to apply their findings directly and hone their analytical skills.
