• From 1996 - 2002 university lecturer in Modern German Literature and General Literary Studies at the University of Paderborn. Afterwards several professorships in Paderborn and at the University of Flensburg
  
  
•  1992 - 1996 Habilitation scholarship of the German Research Foundation. Topic of the habilitation thesis Painting can have a very eloquent silence. Descriptive art and pictorial aesthetics of the poets
  
  
• Research assistant in the subject of Modern German Literature and General Literary Studies at the University of Paderborn. 1990 doctorate, title of the dissertation Honor as Bourgeoisie in the Contemporary Novels of Theodor Fontane
  
  
• Studies of German language and literature, Protestant theology and philosophy at the University of Siegen (state examination 1988)
