Migration: developments in linguistic and social interaction.

According to surveys, migration was one of the most important topics in the 2025 federal election. But even apart from the election, there is an intense social discourse about it. It can be observed how boundaries of what can be said are being shifted and existing taboos are being broken. These processes are also reflected in the bad word of the year 2024: the discriminatory use of the word "bio-German".
But who actually sets the boundaries of sayability? How can they be explained from a linguistic perspective? And where are the connections with the history of migration discourse?

Together with David Römer and Awet Tesfaiesus (requested), we will discuss how these questions affect politics and the personal lives of individuals.
