Study profile "Talking about sexualized violence in (religious) education"
The content on this page was translated automatically.
The aim of the study profile is to provide competence-oriented training for religious education teachers on the topic of sexualized violence in religious education. In doing so, we choose an approach that sees working with biblical texts on this topic as a learning opportunity. Reflective discussion promotes responsible action in schools and lessons and also in other areas of society. This includes within theology and its disciplines (especially biblical studies and religious education):
- the teaching of sound scientific knowledge regarding sexualized violence under the conditions of school and teaching in the teacher training course or in the BA course with a minor in Catholic/ev. religion;
- the practice of professional speaking about sexualized violence in religious education;
- the ability to deal responsibly and creatively with biblical texts that describe situations of (sexual) violence;
- the possibility of a reflective-innovative practical orientation by linking the different training phases (e.g. further training for teachers);
- the promotion of a profession-oriented competence profile for religious education teachers as a basic qualification for schools and teaching.
A study profile offers students the opportunity to focus on a specific subject area within their regular studies on a voluntary and independent basis. It serves to develop a personal profile and may give students an advantage when applying to schools. The courses of the planned study profile must be completed by L2, L3 and L4 students as part of their regular studies. The courses are not consecutive in terms of content and time. They can be attended in parallel or consecutively. The only additional work required is the final assessment in the form of a portfolio, which relates to all three courses attended.
The study profile can be completed by students who are enrolled in a teacher training program in Catholic/Ev religion (L2-L5) or in the BA minor in Catholic/Ev religion as part of their studies, but is generally open to all students who are enrolled in a degree program at the University of Kassel.
The study profile includes three courses: two compulsory basic courses (biblical studies/religious education) and one compulsory elective course (biblical studies, systematics, church history or from a non-theological subject at the university). Within the compulsory course "Texts of Terror - Biblical Didactics and Religious Education Considerations on the Old Testament Narrative of Sexualized Violence", religious education, biblical studies and biblical didactics perspectives are placed in an interdisciplinary and, above all, gender- and violence-sensitive context. The courses that can be credited towards the study profile are specifically listed on the Institute's homepage and in the course catalog. After successfully completing the study profile, students receive a certificate.
Retroactive recognition of courses is possible in individual cases. Please contact us in this regard.
The study profile was developed, researched and further developed as part of the PRONET2 sub-project P34 "Depiction of sexualized violence in the Bible and religious education". Completed courses remain valid in any case.
