The fundamental aim of the project is to develop and test an interdisciplinary, networked teaching concept within theological teacher training.

In PRONET2, the structures created are to be further established and deepened with a focus on interreligious education. Accordingly, the project is based on five pillars:
1. Interdisciplinary annual theme with specialist events and study day;
2. Interdisciplinary, religious-educational-theological study day to network the three phases of teacher training;
3. Curricular design of the module "Theology Interdisciplinary/Interreligious";
4. Regular lecture series with an interreligious perspective and transdisciplinary orientation;
5. Offer of a study profile "Interreligious Competence".

In the first project phase (2015-2018), the interdisciplinary networked teaching concept for religious education teacher training was developed with a focus on transdisciplinary skills. This includes networking skills within the methodologically highly divergent theological disciplines (biblical studies, historical theology, systematic theology, religious education) as well as additional skills aimed at linking theological issues with topics that are dealt with in other humanities, cultural and social science disciplines.

A new supplementary perspective of the second project phase is interreligious competence, which transcends the subject boundaries of the theological disciplines traditionally represented in teacher training courses. More than ever, the social situation requires such interreligious competence from religious education teachers. This includes, on the one hand, knowledge of the theological content and religious practices of other religions and, on the other hand, the self-reflection of Christian denominational content and positions that is stimulated in encounters with others, which contributes to a more reflective view of one's own point of view. Both movements are to be promoted and reflexively accompanied in the measures of this project. Part of the interreligious teaching concept is an interreligious and transdisciplinary lecture series that takes place every three semesters and is open to the public. The lecture series began in winter semester 2018/19 with the topic "Holy Scriptures", which will be continued with the topics "Sacred Spaces" (summer semester 2020) and "Sacred Times" (winter semester 2022/23). In addition, a study profile "Interreligious Competence" is to be established from summer semester 2020 in order to develop the content of the new focus (see below).
