Dealing with multilingualism is a cross-sectional task for teachers of all school types and subjects. The Multilingual Education Study Certificate offers student teachers the opportunity to further their education in the areas of German as a second language, multilingualism and German as a language of education.

The Multilingual Education Certificate is open to student teachers and teacher graduates from all departments at the University of Kassel. It can be obtained by persons who
are enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program offered by the University of Kassel and
have registered for the certificate program. Registration takes place in person at the secretariat of the Teaching and Research Area German as a Foreign and Second Language.
The study certificate in Multilingual Education is composed as listed above. A total of 10 CP can be achieved.
Module 1 includes the courses
- Theories, concepts, models of foreign and second language acquisition (winter semester)
- Fundamentals of linguistics (winter semester)
- Methods of teaching German as a foreign and second language (summer semester).
