Recognition procedure

Career changers

If you have studied at another university in Germany and would like to have your achievements recognized, please proceed as follows:

• For teaching degree: Your contact is the Hessische Lehrkräfte Akademie. There you submit an application for recognition. Once the application has been processed, you will receive a notice of recognition. This is to be presented at the examination office , where your achievements are recorded, at the earliest at the beginning of your semester (beginning of October or beginning of April).

• For Bachelor or Master: The recognition takes place in the institutes. Please contact the study advisor:in. If necessary, he or she will refer you to a responsible subject representative. Please submit your original certificates of achievement with the recognitions to the examination office so that they can be recorded there. This is possible at the beginning of your first semester at the earliest (beginning of October or beginning of April). Should you be recognized for approximately 30 credits per semester, you can be placed in a subject semester higher. This classification notice for the Student Secretariat will be issued to you by the Examination Office. 

• Study programs with an economics component: The subject representatives from Department 07 are responsible for recognizing achievements in the field of economics. Please use this form to document the recognition and submit it to the Examination Office of Department 02, where the achievements will be entered into your account.

Change of study program

If you have studied here in Kassel and would like to change to another degree program here:

• In the case of Lehramt: Your contact is the Hessische Lehrkräfte Akademie.There you submit an application for recognition. Once the application has been processed, you will receive a notice of recognition. This is to be presented at the examination office , where your achievements are recorded. This is possible at the beginning of your first semester at the earliest (beginning of October or beginning of April).

• For Bachelor's or Master's degrees: Contact the examination office right away. There you will be recognized for your achievements. In case of doubt, you will be referred to a subject advisor or a responsible subject representative. The credits will be registered at the beginning of the first semester at the earliest (beginning of October or beginning of April).  Should you be recognized for approximately 30 credits per semester, you may be placed higher accordingly. The Examination Office will also issue you with this classification notice for the Registrar's Office. 

• Courses of study with an economics component: The subject representatives from Department 07 are responsible for recognizing credits earned in the field of economics. Please use this form to document the recognition and submit it to the Examination Office of Department 02, where the achievements will be entered into your account.

Semester abroad

If you have completed your semester abroad:

• For Lehramt: The recognition takes place in the institutes with the respective subject representatives. Afterwards, please submit your original transcripts with the recognition to the examination office so that they can be recorded there.

• For Bachelor and Master: The recognition takes place in the institutes with the respective subject representatives. Afterwards, please submit your original certificates of achievement with the acknowledgements to the examination office so that they can be recorded there.

• Courses of study with an economics component: The subject representatives from Department 07 are responsible for recognizing achievements in the field of economics. For orientation you can download this  information sheet. Please use this form  to document the recognitions and please submit it to the examination office of department 02, where the achievements will be entered into your account.
