Call for Applications (Spanish)

The Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) and Bielefeld University are currently accepting applications for two fellowships —with a duration of two to three months—aimed at qualified researchers who wish to conduct research during a research stay at one of the CALAS locations in Central America and the Caribbean (San José, Costa Rica) or at the Andes location at FLACSO in Ecuador:
In line with CALAS’s research program, applicants are expected to contribute to the development of new methodological and analytical approaches to understanding the changes, transformations, and the emergence of new horizons in response to the crises in Latin America. This may involve a reexamination of Latin American and hemispheric approaches, theories, and methods that address transformation, mobility, crises, and perspectives, as well as the dynamics of interdependence and decoupling in the region.

Important Dates•
Application deadline: October 11, 2026•
Announcement of results: November 30, 2026•
Start of the fellowship: between March and June 2027

Due to the expected number of applications, no reasons will be provided for rejected applications.
