CALAS Chair International Scholarship for the Summer Semester 2027 in Havana, Cuba: Apply now by October 19, 2026

The Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies in the
Social Sciences and Humanities (CALAS, after its English acronym), the University of Havana
(Cuba), and the National University of San Martín (Argentina) are announcing a fellowship to fill the
CALAS Chair in Cuba, which is based this time at the National University of San Martín
(Argentina). The professorship is funded by CALAS and includes a three-month stay in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In line with CALAS’s research program, applicants
are expected to contribute to the development of new methodological and
analytical approaches to further the debates on past, present, and future crises
in the Latin American region and worldwide. Based on a transdisciplinary approach, the chair invites experts on Latin America and the Caribbean to examine the intersections of these
crises, the accompanying processes of social change, and the role of the various
social actors involved, and to help understand these changes and find solutions to the crises in the region and worldwide.
