@Political System of the Federal Republic of Germany - Statehood in Transition

For the fifth time, the city of Kassel is inviting applications for the nationwide "Kassel Democracy Impulse" award. For the first time, this is endowed with 10,000 euros following a corresponding resolution by the city council. The application deadline is August 15, 2026.

The award recognizes outstanding academic work as well as well-founded, analytical and investigative journalistic contributions that address group-related misanthropy and politically motivated violence. The focus is particularly on topics such as right-wing extremism, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.

The award is also linked to the commemoration of the victims of right-wing extremist violence - in particular Halit Yozgat, who was murdered by NSU perpetrators in Kassel on April 6, 2006, and the Kassel District President Walter Lübcke.
