Brief legal opinion by Dr. Louis Kasten: Importance of the 'third option' in the university - reducing discrimination against non-binary and binary intersex and transgender people

The report was prepared as part of the project "Challenges and necessities of the third gender entry" under the direction of Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Tuider and Verena Hucke (both Department of Sociology of Diversity) and funded by the "Special Fund for Structural Equal Opportunities" of the University of Kassel, 2018.

The discussions on and the subsequent change in civil status law with regard to the third gender option "diverse" challenge organizations and educational institutions, as the aim is to create a non-discriminatory and appreciative work and study situation for all. Accordingly, the project was dedicated to the work and study situation of people who position themselves outside of the cisgender and bisexual order.
