KASSEL CONTESTED - Krieg Planung Liebe

Kassel is characterized by armaments industry sites, some of which are even located close to the city centre, on the one hand, and a diverse and resistant socio-cultural initiative landscape on the other. In a large-scale mapping, we investigated the spatial connections between private industry, public planning and the appropriation of space by civil society. The identification of the resulting urban conflicts in the central, jointly developed urban mapping was the starting point for four pragmatic-utopian future scenarios in Kassel. The central map overlays the past and present of the arms industry, planning history and socio-cultural spaces and protest sites in Kassel and was developed collectively.
