On Wednesday, September 07, 2022, the disputation of Benedikt Simmert took place at the Department of Information Systems University of Kassel | Information Systems University of Kassel. In addition to Prof. Jan Marco Leimeister, colleagues, family and friends were also on site at the ITeG and followed the lecture there. Other viewers were connected online. Mr. Simmert successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Internal Crowd Work, Empowerment and Agility - Why Internal Crowd Work Matters and How It Leads to Psychological Empowerment and Workforce Agility".

Among other things, he analyses new forms of work organization to promote agility. His findings show that the characteristics of network structure, competence-centered differentiation, employee autonomy and flexibility have a major influence on agility in companies through the use of internal crowd work. He also identifies the psychological effects of meaningfulness, self-determination, competence and influence as outstanding influencing factors.

Professor Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister warmly congratulated Benedikt Simmert following his successful defense and presented him with a doctoral hat individually designed by the academic staff of the department in accordance with the tradition at the chair. After the successful defense of the doctoral thesis, a small drink was held. Important milestones with regard to the doctoral period were honored.
