With the support of numerous companies from the region (including B. Braun, Micromata, SMA) and beyond, a hackathon will take place at the University of Kassel in November. A hackathon is an event where interdisciplinary talents of different ages and levels of knowledge work together to develop unusual and innovative solutions to problems that can be real-world problems, make people's lives easier or simply be fun toys. In the case of I²oTHack 2023 at the University of Kassel, the focus is on problems that can be solved with computers and in which "intelligent" devices connected via the Internet can play a role (IoT = Internet of Things, I²oTHack = Intelligent IoT Hackathon).

The term "hackathon" is made up of "hacking" and "marathon". In this case, "hacking" means typing program code into a computer and "marathon" refers to the limited time of one weekend in November. During this time, small teams work on self-selected or proposed tasks, which are presented to everyone at the end. Equipment / resources or meals and drinks are provided by the organizers.

The I²oTHack is therefore an exciting event where programming enthusiasts (pupils, students, professionals) work together on exciting intelligent IoT projects. Here, everyone has the unique opportunity to bring new ideas to life and use resources such as computers, Raspberry Pis, VR glasses and much more. The event begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, and ends at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12. It will take place at the Engineering School in Wilhelmshöher Allee 71-73. The main organizer of the I²oTHack is the Department of Intelligent Embedded Systems in the Department of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (Prof. B. Sick).
