Research stay of Volkmar Mrass at the City University of Hong Kong (China)

From October to December 2018, Volkmar Mrass, research associate at the Department of Information Systems at the University of Kassel, completed a research stay at the City University of Hong Konginthe Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China. The visit took place at the invitation of Professor Christian Wagner, PhD, Chair, Associate Provost and CIO of this university. The contact with this professor, who has been researching and teaching at CityU since the mid-1990s, came about in January 2018 at an international conference in the USA. Following an invitation from Professor Wagner, Volkmar Mrass was appointed as a Visiting Fellow by the Dean of the City University of Hong Kong for this period.

The City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has around 20,000 students and around 800 academic staff and is ranked 55th of all universities worldwide (8th in Asia) according to the current QS World University Rankings 2019. In the field of Information Systems, the City University of Hong Kong with its Information Systems Department is one of the world's leading universities in terms of research and publication output.

Volkmar Mrass interacted with both Professor Wagner and his team during his research stay and also took part in the weekly research meetings there. Towards the end of his research stay, he gave a research lecture at the City University of Hong Kong on the topic of "Designing Crowdworking Platform Systems", in which he presented the results of his research on the targeted design of crowdworking platforms, including the surrounding work systems, and discussed them with Professor Wagner and all participants.
