Successful transfer conference on empowerment in agile work organization: intensive transfer of knowledge into practice

As part of the "Empowerment in the digital world of work" project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research(BMBF) and the European Social Fund(ESF) and supervised by the Karlsruhe Project Management Agency(PTKA), the Department of Information Systems(Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister) at the UniversityofKassel held the "Empowerment in agile work organization" transfer conference in Kassel on 26 September 2019. The more than 30 participants from academia and practice were able to engage in a comprehensive exchange together with the other project partners ISF Munich, IG Metall, Audi AG and andrena objects GmbH.

After a welcome from the hosts by Assistant Professor Dr. Christoph Peters, Ijeoma Onwuka fromPTKA gave a welcoming address. This was followed by short presentations by speakers from leading agility transformations and academia, which provided initial impetus for the rest of the event. Reimar Paschke (Siemens AG) and Michael Schmitzer(IG Metall) were invited from the field. Benedikt Simmert (University of Kassel) and Prof. Dr. Andreas Boes (ISF Munich) provided in-depth scientific insights into the context of the transfer conference. Afterwards, an intensive discussion in the form of a world café with all participants and moderated by Karen Eilers provided a platform for exchanging ideas. The discussion format made it possible to jointly develop concrete recommendations for action for the design of more empowerment in agile work organization. A final summary of the results by Assistant Professor Dr. Christoph Peters showed a variety of different perspectives on empowerment in agile work organization and approaches to promoting and shaping it.
