Nomination of the "ArgueLearn" project for the Delina LEARNTEC Innovation Award 2021

The project "ArgueLearn - Adaptive Learning of Argumentation Skills based on Artificial Intelligence" from the University of Kassel and the University of St.Gallen has been nominated for the delina Innovation Awards for Digital Education in the university category. The winners will be announced in June.

In "ArgueLearn", Thiemo Wambsganss (University of St.Gallen), Christina Niklaus (University of St.Gallen), Prof. Dr. Matthias Söllner (University of Kassel), Prof. Dr. Siegfried Handschuh (University of St.Gallen), Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister (University of St.Gallen & University of Kassel) have developed a learning tool that offers students individual writing support based on machine learning and natural language processing techniques. The aim of the project is to improve the argumentation skills of students in mass and distance learning courses.
A first prototype of the project was published at the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) 2020 in the paper "AL: An Adaptive Learning Support System for Argumentation Skills" and received the Honorable Mention Award.
