Prof. Dr. Sebastian Lins will head the new department "Information Systems, in particular Enterprise Systems and Platforms" from 01.05.2025

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Sebastian Lins as a new member of the Department of Economics. Most recently, he worked as a temporary academic councilor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and took on a deputy professorship at the University of Kassel in the winter semester 2023/24. He conducts research in the field of business informatics, in particular on secure and trustworthy information systems as well as enterprise systems and platforms based on modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud, fog and edge computing and distributed ledger technologies.

After working at the University of Cologne and KIT, his academic career led him back to the University of Kassel, where he was already active during his doctoral studies and as part of various research projects. Sebastian Lins has extensive experience in acquiring third-party funding, project management and supervising doctoral students. He has received several awards for his research, including the prestigious ACM SIGMIS Doctoral Dissertation Award.

His teaching approach is characterized by research-based learning and innovative didactic concepts such as flipped classroom and e-learning modules. In the future, he will offer courses on enterprise systems, IT architectures and security in the digital transformation and further strengthen the department's profile in the field of business informatics.
