Title: Critically Reflecting on the Leverage of Generative AI to Support Heterogeneous Learner Needs in Educational Settings

Abstract: Generative AI (GenAI) promises great potential to support heterogeneous learner needs in diverse educational settings by enhancing personalization, efficiency, and accessibility. However, GenAI's technical capabilities and limitations influence its effective application, requiring alignment with the pedagogical demands of learner diversity. In this position paper, we argue that the successful integration of GenAI depends on critical consideration of ethical, equity, and infrastructural factors, as well as ongoing educator training and supportive policies. While GenAI can complement inclusive educational practices, addressing structural challenges such as teacher shortages and unequal access remains essential to ensure that GenAI supports human-centered and equitable learning environments.
