Spectacular physics for everyone

At the "Day of Physics" on Saturday, July 8, 2023 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), there will be hands-on experiments and exciting lectures for everyone at the University of Kassel's Oberzwehren site.

A house full of amazing experiments, exciting demonstrations and interesting lectures on the laws of physics will be open to schoolchildren and anyone interested at the Oberzwehren site (Heinrich-Plett-Straße 40). Guided tours through the otherwise closed laboratories are offered every hour. Anyone who has never heard of the terms clean room, femtosecond spectroscopy or quantum sensing will gain exciting insights. There will also be guided tours on the topics of astromolecules in the laboratory, physics of extremes with a focus on magnetic nanomaterials and research and teaching in physics education. There will be hands-on experiments for children in the physics learning workshop.

Prospective students will receive extensive information on the "Day of Physics" and meet contact persons. The University of Kassel offers Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in Physics as well as Nanostructure Science (Bachelor) and Nanoscience (Master). In addition to the specialist disciplines, students can also complete the physics teaching degree course for grammar schools, secondary schools and vocational schools.

All departments of the Institute of Physics as well as the Collaborative Research Center ELCH and the scientific center CINSaT are actively involved in the event.
