Franziska Wolpert has been working as a research assistant in the Department of Social-Ecological Interactions in Agricultural Systems at the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen since March 2018. Prior to this, she studied geoecology at the University of Tübingen with a focus on ecology, land use and nature conservation.

In her research she is mainly concerned with agroforestry. She is interested in the study of sustainable and regenerative systems and the driving forces that lead to the establishment and maintenance of these systems.
Specifically, she is studying the land use history of selected landscapes in the Mediterranean region that are characterized by agroforestry systems (olives, chestnuts and oaks), the driving forces and their effects in order to draw conclusions for future action and possible leverage points for the promotion of sustainable systems. She also plans to conduct research on the promotion of agroforestry in Germany.
