Campus Garden

Brief description
The Campus Garden is a young, growing project on the north campus of the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen. The aim is to create a versatile, ecologically cultivated garden as a learning and meeting place. A variety of vegetables, edible flowers and herbs are currently growing on a raised bed area of around 10 m². In a second expansion phase, the area will be extended in the coming months. The focus is not only on harvesting, but also on learning, researching, observing - and of course enjoying together.

Project content
The garden serves as a place for education and communication, where topics such as biodiversity, seed diversity, ecological cycles and climate-friendly gardening can be experienced. We rely exclusively on seed-resistant varieties, do not use synthetic chemicals and promote the diversity of pollinators and soil organisms through targeted plant selection.

The project is accompanied on Instagram at @campusgarden_witzenhausen - with seasonal insights, tips and inspiration for gardening.

Funding
The Campus Garden project is funded by the Green Office of the University of Kassel and the Dean's Office of Faculty 11 (Ecological Agricultural Sciences).
