Claudia Heindorf is part of the Chair of Social-ecological Interactions in Agricultural Systems since November 2021, in the frame of the research project “Der Mensch und das Moor”.

She studied forestry at the University of Freiburg and Natural Resource Management in the Tropics and Subtropics from the ITT-Cologne and the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where she also conducted her PhD in Environmental Sciences until 2020: Her work examined the management and in situ conservation of plant genetic resources in Indigenous land-use systems of the Huasteca Potosina.

As a postdoctoral researcher at the Ecosystems and Sustainability Research Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, she joined the transdisciplinary action research project CoLaboraty Kitchen. As part of the project, she investigated the impact of the COVID-19 crisis and climate-driven disturbances on the local food system. She also worked for Civil Society Organizations and the private sector in Mexico, Bolivia, and Chile on sustainable forest management, adaptive agroforestry design, and urban agriculture.
