Brief introduction  (Dr. Matthias Wengert)

Matthias Wengert is a postdoctoral researcher at the section of Grassland Science and Renewable Plant Resources at the University of Kassel. His research focus is on the development of drone-borne remote sensing methods for analyzing the spatio-temporal variability of plant parameters in crops. Drone-borne data are utilized for mapping yield, forage quality, and sward composition of grasslands, forages, and arable crops at very high resolution. Another research field is the development of drone-borne methods for analyzing tree-crop/grassland interactions and their spatio-temporal patterns in agroforestry systems.


Research interests  (Dr. Matthias Wengert)

  • Development of models based on UAV-borne remote sensing data (RGB, multispectral, hyperspectral, 3D point clouds) for the estimation of agronomically relevant plant parameters
  • Analysis of spatio-temporal patterns in crops and forages for improved understanding of interactions in cropping systems
  • Remote sensing-based mapping of plant parameters for the analysis of the effect of grazing on the biodiversity of grassland and forages
