Research focus
Mayssa is a PhD student in crop modelling, working on temperate alley-cropping agroforestry systems in Germany. Her research focuses on representing hydraulic redistribution (HR) in the APSIM Next Generation model to assess how water transferred by poplar trees during drought spells can support shallow-rooted understorey crops. By integrating HR into APSIM, her work seeks to improve understanding of below-ground tree–crop interactions and their role in enhancing resilience under water-limited conditions.
