Award: The Solid Construction Department congratulates Dr.-Ing. Paul Capewell on receiving the DAfM’s 2026 University Award

Dr.-Ing. Paul Capewell, a former research associate in the Solid Construction Department, was awarded this year’s University Prize by the German Committee for Masonry (DAfM) for his dissertation titled “On the Seismic Behavior of Masonry Structures with Different Bed Joint Characteristics”.

The dissertation provides valuable insights into the structural behavior of masonry buildings under seismic loads and demonstrates how the seismic behavior can be positively influenced through the careful selection of the type of bed joint.
