On October 22 and 23, Annika Lux attended the 38th ICTCT Conference (International Cooperation on Theories and Concepts in Traffic Safety) in Zagreb. Under the theme “Road Safety in the Age of AI,” researchers from across Europe gathered to discuss proactive traffic safety, human factors, and the use of artificial intelligence.

Annika presented findings from the LOEWE project DyNaMo: In the session “AI in Road Safety,” she delivered a presentation titled “Recognizing Cyclists’ Signals: What Automated Systems Can Learn from Human Perception.” She also presented the poster “Capturing Cyclists’ Driving Errors – Privacy-Compliant Methods, Insights, and Infrastructure Approaches Concerning AI.” Particularly engaging were the keynote speeches on ethical issues surrounding AI in road safety and on safe roads achieved through the interplay of human behavior and automation.

More information about the project is available on the University of Kassel’s DyNaMo website: https://www.uni-kassel.de/forschung/dynamo

Many thanks to the organizing team at the University of Zagreb for the successful conference and the many stimulating discussions!
