Introduction
The MoveOn International Autumn School on Sustainable Mobility – Made in Kassel, organized by the Radverkehr und Nahmobilität at the University of Kassel, will take place from 21 to 24 October 2025. The program serves as an international platform dedicated to advancing knowledge and dialogue on sustainable mobility. Building on the success of the 2022 Summer School held in collaboration with the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, this year’s Autumn School continues the commitment to promoting academic exchange, interdisciplinary learning, and global collaboration among emerging scholars and professionals in transport and mobility studies.
Impressions of the MoveOn International Autumn School
Overview
The Department of Cycling and Sustainable Mobility is organising its second International MoveOn Autumn School. In 2022, the Department successfully conducted the first MoveOn International Summer School on Sustainable Mobility in collaboration with the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Following the successful completion of the Summer School in Ghana, the Department will now host the MoveOn International Autumn School on Sustainable Mobility – Made in Kassel at the University of Kassel, Kassel, Germany.
This year’s Autumn School will bring together partners from seven universities across Albania, Sub-Saharan Africa, Ukraine, Georgia, and the Caribbean, fostering an international exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences.
Purpose and scope
The Autumn School aims to strengthen capacity building, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and create a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange among transport and mobility professionals. It is envisioned as a hub for nurturing innovative ideas, promoting inclusive and participatory teaching methodologies, and cultivating long-term academic and professional collaborations that address pressing global challenges in mobility and transport.
Objectives
The main objective of the MoveOn International Autumn School on Sustainable Mobility – Made in Kassel is to raise awareness among young transportation academicians regarding the importance of sustainable mobility and to enhance partnerships and collaborations with Erasmus+ partner institutions.
The program is designed to attract emerging scholars and young academics from a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to: Transportation planning and engineering, Transport geography, The built environment and architecture, Urban and spatial planning, social sciences.
Through its interdisciplinary approach, the Autumn School seeks to advance the collective understanding of sustainable mobility and contributes to building a global academic community committed to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable transport futures.
