Research Focus
By training, Dr. Ahsan Maqbool is a soil physicist and environmental researcher working at the interface of soil processes, contaminant transport, and subsurface hydrology. His research focuses on the fate and transport of persistent and emerging contaminants in agricultural soils, with particular emphasis on land-surface processes (e.g., rainfall, tillage, and bioturbation) that drive redistribution and on their implications for soil–groundwater interactions.
Within the ADAPT project, he manages the Infiltration Continuum Lab (ICL), supports project coordination, and co-supervises PhD students. His work integrates virtual modeling approaches to design experiments addressing cluster-specific research questions. While his own focus on reactive transport modeling of micropollutants (e.g., PFAS and pharmaceuticals) under unsaturated flow conditions.
