Monitoring the German Bioeconomy - Summary - Status, performance, trends and implications for sustainable Development

This report presents indicators, trends and scenarios on the state and performance of the German bioeconomy. The aim is to identify the challenges and opportunities that policy makers need to know in order to effectively steer the transition towards a circular and more sustainable bioeconomy. This report is intended for a wide public audience (policy makers, researchers, NGOs, industry and civil society) and is designed to reach readers with different levels of pre-existing knowledge about the bioeconomy. In the long term, it should provide the basis for further developing a regular reporting of bioeconomy monitoring in Germany. This summary provides a snapshot of key findings. The figures presented are simplified versions of the more detailed illustrations found in the main report. All references and abbreviations can be found in the long report, and extended method descriptions and supporting data, when appropriate, are available in the supplementary information published alongside the main report.
