The workshops convened farmers, researchers, local authorities and civil society actors to share scientific results and discuss land tenure security, governance and sustainable land management, with particular attention to the role of the Customary Detention Certificate (ADC). The DecLaRe project team participated in TropenTag 2025, where students presented posters and oral contributions on sustainable land management in West Africa. The event also recognized Sèwanou Frimence A. Tossou with a Best Poster Award for outstanding scientific work. Read more 

On the sidelines of the 2025 Sustainable Land Management in Sub-Saharan Africa Status Seminar, WASCAL Climate and FARA organized a training session on drone piloting and image processing under the DeCLARE and SLM Africa projects. The training equipped primarily PhD researchers with foundational skills in drone operation, safety, data acquisition and image processing to support research on sustainable land management. The DeCLARE 2025 Annual Meeting brought together project partners and researchers to review progress and discuss future directions. The meeting featured updates on the DeCLARE Decision Support System, short presentations by PhD students on preliminary research results related to sustainable land management in West Africa, guidance on ethical clearance and data documentation, and planning for upcoming project activities, including the 2026 Annual Meeting. The DeCLARE project team participated in TropenTag 2024, engaging in the workshop “Knowledge Management for Sustainable Agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa,” organized by IDOS and FARA under the INTERFACES project. Team members delivered presentations, joined panel discussions on knowledge management for agricultural development, and took part in networking sessions for junior scientists, contributing to discussions on sustainable land management and innovative agricultural practices. The DeCLARE Annual Meeting began at the Faculty of Organic Agricultural Sciences, University of Kassel, where PhD students presented research on soil science, micronutrient chains, land use change, livestock nutrition, rangeland management, and ethnography/land tenure, highlighting their contributions to sustainable land management.
