FoSS Winter Workshop 2026

The Research Network for Social Law and Social Policy (FoSS) at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the University of Kassel cordially invites you to the two-day FoSS Winter Workshop “The Welfare State and Society in Transition. Doctoral Candidates on the Move: New Perspectives on Law, Politics, and Social Justice” on November 17 & 18, 2026, at the Fulda Transfer University Center.

The conference offers early-career researchers the opportunity to present current research, discuss academic questions together, and network both professionally and personally. In addition to specialized presentations, commentary, and interdisciplinary discussions, the event will focus in particular on the exchange of research approaches, experiences, and perspectives.

A special event awaits you on the evening of the first day of the conference: For the sixth time, the Nora Platiel Prize will be awarded by the Association for the Promotion of Research and Knowledge Transfer in Social Law and Social Policy (Verein zur Förderung von Forschung und Wissenstransfer in Sozialrecht und Sozialpolitik e.V.) in collaboration with FoSS. As part of the award ceremony, the traveling exhibition by the German Association of Women Lawyers (Deutscher Juristinnenbund e.V.) on “Jewish Women Lawyers and Lawyers of Jewish Descent” will also be opened.

The exhibition will be on view throughout the FoSS Winter Workshop. Starting November 19, 2026, you can find the exhibition at the University and State Library on the Fulda University of Applied Sciences campus.

The conference is being held in cooperation with the Association for the Promotion of Research and Knowledge Transfer in Social Law and Social Policy (Verein zur Förderung von Forschung und Wissenstransfer in Sozialrecht und Sozialpolitik e.V.), Cinteus, and the Doctoral Center for Social Work.
