Welcome to the INCHER Scientific Advisory Board, Prof. Dr. Serrano Velarde

In April 2026, the Executive Board of the University of Kassel appointed Prof. Dr. Kathia Serrano Velarde to the Scientific Advisory Board of INCHER at the University of Kassel. The Scientific Advisory Board advises INCHER on fundamental and strategic issues related to structural and research planning. In addition to Kathia Serrano Velarde, the board consists of five other members.

Prof. Dr. Kathia Serrano Velarde is a professor of political sociology at the Max Weber Institute for Sociology at Heidelberg University. Her research and teaching focus on political sociology and the sociology of organizations.

Prof. Dr. Serrano Velarde is connected to INCHER not least through her collaboration in the DFG research group “Multiple Competition in the Higher Education System.” Together with Prof. Dr. Julian Hamann, she leads the project “Internationality in Competition: Foreignness and Translation in Postdoc Careers” within the research group.
