Universities in social change: multiple missions, hyperactive organisations? – the thematic mission statement of INCHER research

New tasks for universities often arise from societal, economic and social change. INCHER researches important aspects of this development.

In our research, we ask questions such as: How do universities manage to meet the different demands and fulfill their multiple missions? How does the overlapping of tasks change the university and the activities of its members? To what extent is it functional? Where are there complementarities and where are there conflicting goals? What effects can be expected if the university becomes a hyperactive organization that defines itself through visible projects ('lighthouses') and permanently generates a correspondingly high level of activity?
