Congratulations on your habilitation!

We congratulate our colleague Tim Seidenschnur: With his lecture on June 2, 2026, followed by an academic discussion, Dr. Tim Seidenschnur has successfully completed the habilitation process in the Department of Social Sciences, in the field of Sociology, at the University of Kassel.

The thematic framework of Dr. Tim Seidenschnur’s cumulative habilitation thesis is “Scarcity, Competition, and Legitimacy: Theoretical and Empirical Perspectives on the German Higher Education System.”

Tim is a research associate at the INCHER for the DFG-funded project “Multiple Competition in Research and Teaching: South Korea and the U.S. as International Comparative Cases” and coordinates the DFG Research Group “Multiple Competition in Higher Education − Internationalization and International Comparison”.

From April 2024 to the end of March 2025, he held the visiting professorship in “Higher Education Research” in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Kassel.

His research focuses on issues in the sociology of organizations, with a particular emphasis on competition, legitimation processes, and organizational governance.
