Prof. Dr. Anne Otto has been a professor of “Higher Education and the Labor Market” in the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Kassel since April 2026 and she is also a leading researcher at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB).
In recent years, Prof. Dr. Anne Otto has collaborated with INCHER on numerous projects; she is currently involved, among other things, in the project “International mobility as a strategy and result in the national competition for excellence,” which is part of the DFG Research Group “Multiple Competition in the Higher Education System—Internationalization and International Comparison.”
The appointment of Prof. Dr. Anne Otto to the S-Professorship for “Higher Education and the Labor Market” is intended to further deepen the already proven collaboration between the University of Kassel and the IAB.
CV
Prof. Dr Otto was a student of economic geography at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich from 1992 till 1998.
From 1998 to 1999 she was a researcher attached to the Chair of Economic Geography of the LMU Munich; from 1999 to 2003 a researcher in the working group "Town and Region" of the University of Bonn; and from 2004 to 2005 a researcher at the Institute for Development Planning and Structural Research (Entwicklungsplanung und Strukturforschung) of the University of Hannover. Dr Otto has been on the research staff of IAB Rhineland-Palatinate-Saarland since May 2005.
Anne Otto has completed her habilitation in geography at the Institute for Economic and Cultural Geography (IWKG) at Leibniz Universität Hannover in 2022 and has been teaching there since 2018. Since 2021 she is an associate member of the International Centre for Higher Education Research (INCHER) at the University of Kassel.
