Merve Kılıçkan

Since May 2019, Merve Kılıçkan has been a PhD student at INCHER and the Economic Policy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (EPIE) group at the University of Kassel. Merve completed her Bachelor in Business Administration and Master in Economics at Yeditepe University in Turkey. Her research interests include knowledge economy, technology transfer and historical economics. Her PhD project focuses on knowledge production enabled by highly skilled immigration, institutionalization and education policies, especially the role of the university in knowledge creation and diffusion.

On August 13, 2026, Merve successfully defended her dissertation, entitled “(Dis-)Enabling Knowledge Production: Empirical Studies of the Turkish University System.” In recognition of her outstanding achievement, she was awarded a magna cum laude both for the thesis and for the defense.
