Conversation on Deck: One Health—How Humans, Animals, and the Environment Are Interconnected

Prof. Dr. Miriam Athmann and three other leading researchers from the LOEWE research network in Hesse discuss aboard the MS Wissenschaft why One Health is one of the most important issues facing our society in the future—and what answers science is already providing today.

After all, health does not arise in a vacuum. It depends on how we live, how we design our cities, how we practice agriculture, how our environment is changing—and how closely we are connected to animals and ecosystems. The One Health concept makes it clear that the major challenges of our time can only be solved if we examine these interconnections together and work together to find solutions.

On the MS Wissenschaft, which is touring this year under the theme “Medicine of the Future,” Prof. Dr. Sandra Ciesek, Prof. Dr. Carolin Bock, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schieffer, and Prof. Dr. Miriam Athmann from the Hessian LOEWE Program will discuss why One Health is becoming increasingly important for our society—and what solutions science is already developing today. The panel discussion is specifically designed to give citizens, students, and anyone interested the opportunity to engage in conversation with the scientists.
