Thematic focus

For more than a year now, India's peasantry has waged a sustained struggle, which has drawn considerable attention, nationally and globally; in fact, it is widely hailed as among the most significant resistance movements in the recent decades. Although the focus of the struggle has been a set of legislative changes pertaining to the policy regime, the roots of discontent go much deeper, questioning the architecture of neoliberalism and machinations of corporate power. The talk will be a reflection on some of these issues, to provide a context and a perspective, on the above noted resistance and it's prospects.
