Centre of Excellence in Agriculture, Food Security, and Sustainable Land Management (Angola)

The SASSCAL Graduate Programme in Angola aims to establish a regional graduate school for Agriculture, Food security, and Sustainable Land Management (AFSLM). Hosted by José Eduardo dos Santos University (UJES) in Huambo, supported by Agostinho Neto University (UAN) in Luanda and co-administered by the University of Kassel (Germany), the programme strengthens national and regional research and training capacities in southern Africa.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMFTR), the project runs from October 2025 to September 2029 and contributes to the broader Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) framework.
The programme combines interdisciplinary doctoral training, innovative research, and cross-cultural collaboration to address the challenges of African food systems in the 21st century.
