Large-scale phishing mail sent to University of Kassel mail accounts on 11.12.2025

On the evening of 11.12.25 from approx. 17:50 to 18:30, a large-scale phishing mail campaign was carried out against mail accounts of the University of Kassel to a large number of recipients. The mails were scanned by our mail scanners with the tag "{WARNING! Unsafe-Office-file-in-attachment}", but were not initially recognized as SPAM.

Subject: Notification of e-mail account closure
Attachment: Uni Kassel - Notification of e-mail account closure
Time period: Thursday, 11.12.25 from approx. 17:50 to 18:30

Measures:
Delete the e-mail immediately. If you have opened the attachment, please contact the IT service desk.
