New on your Uni Kassel client: LibreOffice (Writer, Calc, Impress)
In addition to Microsoft Office, LibreOffice Writer, Calc and Impress are now also available on your centrally administered device.
Why LibreOffice? LibreOffice is a locally installed open source office package without a manufacturer account, product activation or cloud obligation. Documents are saved locally by default; the program itself does not transfer any document content to the manufacturer by default. In addition to Microsoft formats, the open ODF format is also supported, the source code of which is publicly accessible.
Data protection: Processing takes place locally on your device. The actual storage location (e.g. network drive, e-mail) still determines where your data ends up - please observe the applicable regulations on confidential and personal data.
Note on compatibility: Complex formatting, macros or embedded objects may result in differences between Microsoft Office and LibreOffice. For forwarding to external recipients or colleagues with Microsoft Office: please save in Microsoft format (.docx/.xlsx/.pptx) and check the display before sending.
LibreOffice is particularly recommended for internal documents, drafts and notes. Microsoft Office will of course remain fully available.
