Information About VPN

The VPN service is being migrated to univpn.uni-kassel.de.

The vpn.uni-kassel.de service will be discontinued on July 31, 2026. (Network range 141.51.216.0–141.51.223.255)

What does this mean for you?
The VPN service will continue to be available to you at univpn.uni-kassel.de.

What will change for you?
The VPN service uses a different IP address range (10.60.0.0/16), which must be updated in both the central and local firewalls.

Those applying for their own VPN group, as well as the IT representatives from the departments, have already been informed. For your own VPN groups, you now have up to 256 addresses available.

Please test all work processes with univpn.uni-kassel.de together with your colleagues to ensure that all processes continue to function without restriction when vpn.uni-kassel.de is taken offline.
Please check with your IT representative or firewall administrators to confirm that the change has been implemented in your firewall.
Additionally, local systems may also need to be adjusted (local firewall or access restrictions).

Starting August 1, 2026, the address vpn.uni-kassel.de will redirect to the devices that provide access to univpn.uni-kassel.de.
