Invitation to the event "Traceability in Manufacturing and Remanufacturing"

The digital transformation towards Industry 4.0 is in full swing and has recently been further developed as Industry 5.0. In the future, increasing productivity and efficiency in the company will be expanded to include the aspect of sustainability. Remanufacturing, which goes far beyond the recovery of raw materials (recycling), provides one approach in this regard. In remanufacturing, used products are industrially refurbished and brought up to at least the quality level of a new product. Traceability continues to be of essential importance here and must be expanded in the form of a digital product passport with information on the product components (components, materials and chemical substances) or information on reparability, spare parts or proper disposal. The question therefore arises as to how a traceability system must be designed in order to be successful not only in manufacturing but also in remanufacturing.

Presentations and discussions will address the challenges and potential of traceability in the context of (re)manufacturing and digital product passports from the entrepreneurial perspective of SMEs.
